A few months ago, I was invited to be part of a panel on same-sex marriage.  This was hosted by The Filipino Channel, and part of their show "SpeakOut."  Now most of you know where I am on the particular issue and I can really respect any thoughtful person who disagrees.  My patience runs dry with idiocy πŸ˜‰  Yes, I am being totally arrogant, but come on, one of the reason to NOT allow Same-sex Marriage was that Insurance companies don’t recognize these marriages so why should we bother.  Damn . . . all this time, I didn’t realize that my position on issues of public policy and civil rights was not to be guided by the thoughtful and heart-filled discernment of God’s will, but the insurance companies . . . my bad.
Anyway, one of the "other side" was an 74-year-old Manong from the Knights of Columbus.  Needless to say at a certain point, my respect and deference to my elders posture was tossed aside in favor some of some good old-fashioned theological whuppin’.  I did feel a little bad challenging him about educational expertise of Scripture, "Sir, did you take Hebrew, did you take Greek?  Do you understand the basics of biblical interpretation?"  Mean Bruce mean, what kind of Asian-American are you πŸ˜‰
Well . . . my brief time in the talk-show spotlight is airing next week if you want to watch the carnage.
