With roughly 5,000 young people plus adult advisers, staff and leadership Triennium kicked off last night with worship and community building.  The theme this year is "For such a time as this" from Esther.  Through worship, recreation, small group and many random conversations, this year the young folks will be exploring what it mean to discern God's hopes and intentions for their lives.

It has been a while since I have attended a Triennium.  I think it was in the early 90's when my wife and I chaperoned a group from San Francisco.   While I do remember the heat and humidity, it was great to get in to the thick of things and once again experience the energy and openness that comes from these kinds fo events.

One of the things thing that I have always appreciated about our national youth staff is their commitment to taking young people seriously in their ability to discern and navigate the nuances of life and faith.  Though i am taking off for home this evening, I suspect that same will occur this year.

If Triennium has been meaningful for you, feel free to leave your stories here.  Until then here are some ways to keep track of this year's event.
