No, I’m not giving up Social Media for Lent. My 2013 Lenten discipline is to give thanks to God for those who have helped me to grow into who God intends for me to be and become. See all of my 2013 Lenten Thanks here.
Yes, as a matter of fact, I AM thanking God for another inanimate object in my life. This time, I am lifting up my love of riding motorcycles and the machines that have been part of my riding life over the past decade. Let the judging begin . . . but just know that I am a very safe rider and my number one priority is to avoid putting myself into situations where other people’s action can hurt me. Yes, things can happen, but I do my best to keep the odds in my favor.
That said, there is something spiritually liberating about riding. The ways in which I find my self attentive to everything around me is not only part of riding, but it gives me a heightened awareness of my surroundings that, not only keeps me safe, but alerts me to things that I might otherwise miss. I find that, if I am feeling a little stressed out, I just hop on my bike for a quick spin and all is right in the world.
Today I give thanks for Betty Blue, Trixie Triumph and Dori Ducati, my motorcycles past and present.
