This very short blog series is from a recently discovered print-out (dot matrix on perforated computer paper) of a short-lived journal that I kept during the final semester of my senior year at Luther Burbank High School in Sacramento, CA — in 1987.
I have replaced names with random initials, though those who were in my life during that time will easily be able to figure out who everyone is. I have also kept everything as is with helpful clarifications in [brackets].

Today absolutely nothing happened. I had my first taste of newspaper lay-out night [HS newspaper class]. I got to work with J. It was pretty interesting, but very nerve racking. Mrs. K. kept giving us ads to put on our page. We have more ads than we have articles.
When I got home K. called but I couldn’t talk because we went to celebrate G’s. birthday at Eilish’s [Local bar owned by some friends]. Then when I tried to call her back she wasn’t home. I wonder if she talking to someone else too. Oh well, we don’t have a commitment so I can’t say anything. No commitment… yet. I wonder what kind of dress she’s going to wear for Sr. Ball. If she wears a strapless then I guess I can’t get her a pin on corsage. That could be a little awkward. I think I’m going to take her out one more time before Saturday, I want to get to know her better because she seems like the kind of person I’d like to spend my time with. I’m very reluctant to fall for just anyone, so I’m going to be (try to be) extra careful about K. That rose thing was a slip up. It told her that I was starting to get very interested. I really don’t want her, or anyone else for that matter, to know how I feel. Oh well, like I said before we’re not together. I’ll Just take it real slow and see what happens.
