This very short blog series is from a recently discovered print-out (dot matrix on perforated computer paper) of a short-lived journal that I kept during the final semester of my senior year at Luther Burbank High School in Sacramento, CA — in 1987.
I have replaced names with random initials, though those who were in my life during that time will easily be able to figure out who everyone is. I have also kept everything as is with helpful clarifications in [brackets].

Today’s Sr. Ball. It should be pretty fun. J. and I went out last night (Friday). It was her sweet sixteen. This time she didn’t dog me. When I met her parents the first thing that she asked me was if I was Filipino. We went to Leatherby’s. I guess I’m in the first stages of hardball. I don’t know if I’ll be able to do it because F. is so nice. It’s not like it would be painful to be with her full time. Then there is K. We’ll see what I’m going to do after tonight. Either way I’m going to have fun.
I’ve been having some nasty old farts today.
Speaking of farts, let’s start with F. He dumped E., decided not to take her to the Ball, asked D. to the ball, and almost beat UP her old boyfriend.
L. has problems.
