Dear Diary — February 8, 1987

Bruce Reyes-Chow, 1987This very short blog series is from a recently discovered print-out (dot matrix on perforated computer paper) of a short-lived journal that I kept during the final semester of my senior year at Luther Burbank High School in Sacramento, CA — in 1987.

I have replaced names with random initials, though those who were in my life during that time will easily be able to figure out who everyone is. I have also kept everything as is with helpful clarifications in [brackets].

Enjoy.

Last night when we took L. out it turned out pretty good. We went to T.G.I. Friday’s to eat and V. tried to pick UP on some guy. The whole time our entire table did just stared at these to females that worked there. Then we went to Old Sac and walked around, Then Tara Roxa and sat around (V. got snubbed by one of the waitresses), and finally we went to Leatherby’s. It wasn’t what we all expected, it seemed that we were more calm without the girls than with them. By the end of the night we were all sitting around yawning. K. called last night but I was at work and I couldn’t call her back because I was out with the guys. I guess I’ll call her tonight.

I went to my dad’s house today and bought a couple of shirts but nothing too exciting. I also talked to K. while I was down there. She’s doing alright but she’s still not over B. She wants to go out with all of us sometime and meet everyone.

I guess I’ll go and call K. now.
