Free Week in NYC for Young Activists with the Pilot Millennial Leaders Project

File this one in the “Quite Awesome” folder as Union Theological Seminary is inviting 25-30 young leaders to attend their Pilot Millennial Leaders Project conference this Summer, July 13th – 17th.

And yes, not only will UTS provide some great training and community building, but they are picking up the tab.

Registration Application

Eligible participants are leaders who are between the ages of 21-35 and have a demonstrated record of sustained social justice activism in their respective communities. These leaders may be community organizers, staff of NGO/NPO, in ordained or lay service to a local church or religious community, as well as they may function is less official leadership roles. Formal affiliation with a specific religious tradition or community is not a prerequisite and people with no affiliation are encouraged to apply. In this regard, the only formal requirement is an interest in the intersection between spirituality and activism.

Please note: Travel, shared room and board will be covered by the conference. Please let us know if you have any special considerations regarding housing.

Please fill out our online application. In order to fill out the Millennial Leaders Pilot Conference Application, you will be prompted to login using your “My Union” login credentials. If you do not have a “My Union” User ID and Password, please select “New User Registration” to register.

Recommendations:

Please provide one professional reference from an individual who can speak to your prior or current social justice work. References should be emailed to millennials@utsnyc.edu no later than Friday, May 23rd, 2014. All references should include applicants full name and recommenders full name and contact information.

Résumé:

Your resume should be uploaded as a PDF or Word Document during the online application process.

Essay:

In no more than 500 words, please give us a sense of how you see the intersection of spirituality and activism in your work; as well as identify a project or topic that you would like to develop and/or reflect upon as part of your participation at the summer pilot conference. Your essay should be copied and pasted into the online application.
