Got gold star today.
Well, it was a metaphorical gold star, but a gold star nonetheless. About two months ago, I had a routine blood test and some of my numbers were a bit high: cholesterol, triglycerides, glucose, etc . . . basically all big danger numbers.
And while I always wish to blame my genetics completely when these things happen, I know that I need to eat wiser, exercise more, and generally take better care of myself. So two months ago, I stopped, cold turkey – all white sugar, white flour, white rice, and white potatoes. For a couple of weeks the withdrawals were rough, but I got through it. Better yet, I have dropped eight pounds, feel really good and, after my blood test yesterday, all of my numbers came down DRAMATICALLY.
My doctor was proud of me and, I swear, if I were in her office she would have given me an actual gold star sticker.
And I would have taken it!
See you tomorrow.
