#40WordPrayer on Forgetting — Bruce Reyes-Chow

#40WordPrayer on FORGETTING

Elisha said to her, “What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?” She answered, “Your servant has nothing in the house, except a jar of oil.”
— 2 Kings 4:2

God, when your faithful struggle,

we forget about your miracles of grace,

making something out of nothing,

bringing hope out of despair,

creating life from death.

In our most desperate times,

challenge us, empower us, surprise us,

and remind us of the joy that is faith.

Amen.

Even when I don’t need to remember, these are my reminders of the love and hope that have always been present. When I tend to lose sight of God’s constancy and grounding, all I need to do is to do the same—look around for the ordinary in life and remember that God has been and will always be here.
