#40WordPrayer on Isolation — Bruce Reyes-Chow

#40WordPrayer on ISOLATION

I was silent and still; I held my peace to no avail;
my distress grew worse, my heart became hot within me.
— Psalm 39:2–3a

Being alone is not always lonely

but for those times when the isolation is real,

God, make yourself known

in a stranger’s act of kindness,

in a friend’s word of presence,

in my community’s offer of hospitality,

and in the promise of your steadfast love.

Amen.

But there are also times when I do feel isolated. People can be around or not, and somehow I have still felt disconnected. Be it something I was going through emotionally, the work situation in which I found myself, or just one of those funks that we can each go through, I have experienced loneliness and isolation.
