#40WordPrayer on REST
Six days shall work be done; but the seventh day is a sabbath of complete rest, a holy convocation; you shall do no work: it is a sabbath to the Lord throughout your settlements.
— Leviticus 23:3
God, I am so tired.
Tired of the competition to be the best,
tired of the comparisons between everyone,
tired of the constant need to be busy.
Tired. Tired. Tired.
God, in your presence,
let me rest my soul, rest without guilt, rest without productivity.
Rest. Rest. Rest.
I have found that, whether it be a nap at the end of a series of interactions, a day off at the end of some frenzied days, or a vacation after a season of busyness, it is vital for us all to carve out time to rest, rejuvenate, and recreate before the next season of activity. If we do not, we will soon find minds, bodies, and spirits that are burned out and our relationships with ourselves, others, and God to be in disarray.
