LECTIONARY, YEAR A
September 17, 2017
If you’re stuck in your worship planning process, here are some prayers for your use.
Optional Pastoral Prayer
Check back here on on Friday or Saturday for a pastoral prayer in response to any of the week’s happenings in the world.
Call to Worship: Psalm 114:1-8
One: God, let your people not flee from you, but towards you —
ALL: For in awe and trembling, in respect and joy we have to come to this place.
One: For you are God, a powerful God, a leading God —
ALL: And we, your people come this day seeking to know and follow you.
Confession: Exodus 14:19-31
God too often we simply expect that you will provide. We live our lives often without knowing that what you have given often impacts or comes at the expense of others. In our trust of you, let us remember so many who experience struggle, exclusion, even death. And let us live our lives so that more may come know and experience your love, your peace, your presence. AMEN.
Assurance of Pardon: Matthew 18:21-35
Being forgiven is so much easier than actually forgiving and so let again give thanks and joyfully receive God’s forgiveness again, and again, and again. For it is in our response to this gift of forgiveness that we know and live a generous life in Christ. For is in Christ we are forgiven and made new. AMEN.
Prayer of Dedication: Romans 14:1-12
God, what we offer to you this day —
Let our time be our best time,
Let our talents be an answer to your calling,
And let our money be given with freedom and generosity.
For you have gifted us much that is worthy, so let our offerings be worthy of you.
