EPISODE IV – What the?!?!?!? Yes, pop culture filtered by
yours truly. A waste of time? The pulse of contemporary culture?
Nope, just weekly rant and reflection about the sites and sounds that
have stimulated my brain for good or bad, and now regurgitated for your
MOVIES // Edward Norton
On a recent trip back from Dallas, while watching The Painted Veil, I was reminded of one of my favorite actors. Ed Norton. This guy brings mad skilz to anything he does. Yes, I just used "Mad Skilz" in a sentence. He really does it all from the romantic comedy and uber-cool religious-setting flick, Keeping the Faith, to the INTENSE INTENSE INTENSE American History X and everything in between: The Italian Job, The Illusionist and 25th Hour just to name a few. I still think his best role was his breakout role in Primal Fear. I still get the creeps from that one.
MUSIC // Joss Stone
If you enjoyed her first two albums, Soul Sessions and Mind, Body & Soul, you will not be disappointed with her latest offering Introducing Joss Stone. Despite the whole creepy Tom Cruise stalking thing, she too brings mad skilz – ha! did it again – to the whole raspy voice thing. Scary that she is so young as you believe that she actually know about all the angst and heartbreak that she sings about. Introducing has a little more funky beats to it, but no matter the style all the tracks focus on the soulful nature of her voice. My favorite track: Tell Me What We’re Gonna Do Now featuring Common. TV // SLOW DOWN
This might possibly one of the funnies sitcom gags EVER. From the TV Show "Taxi" this is the episode with resident drunk, Jim, takes his Driver’s License test. I DARE you not to at least giggle and/or think about this clip at your next yellow light.
BLOG // Don’t Suck
I had forgotten about this blog that focuses on the church and technology. Church Marketing Sucks is a pretty snarky, but right on look at how well – or suckily – the church integrates technology into its life. According to the the "about " page, Our mission is to frustrate, educate and motivate the church to
communicate, with uncompromising clarity, the truth of Jesus Christ.
Church Marketing Sucks is a part of the Center for Church Communication, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping the church matter.
