No, I’m not giving up Social Media for Lent. My 2013 Lenten discipline is to give thanks to God for those who have helped me to grow into who God intends for me to be and become. See all of my 2013 Lenten Thanks here.
When I was 18-years-old I attended an ecumenical college church conference in Louisville, KY and my life has never been the same. It was at that event where I met Robin to whom I would be married just a few years later. Of course, it’s no surprise that not everyone was excited about our engagement and marriage at such a young age, but we have proved them all wrong and what I saw in Robin then – smarts, conviction, beauty – still holds true 25 years later.
When I talk with couples about marriage, I always say that the most important aspect of a relationship is that you mutually allow one another to grow into who God intends you to become as individuals, so you as a couple will be able to do the same. Robin has allowed me to continually seek and answer God’s callings upon my life – through great adventures in ministry and deep struggles in faith – and for this I am grateful.
Today I give thanks for my wife, Robin.
