# The Return of The Friday + Five

I was recently exploring my contributions to the Wayback Machine searching for [From + The + Vault](https://theamalgamation.substack.com/t/from-the-vault) content when I stumbled upon my old [Fridays 5’s](https://web.archive.org/web/20130509215352/http://www.patheos.com/blogs/breyeschow/tag/friday-five/) from over a decade ago. I wrote these while blogging for the [SF Gate’s City Brights,](https://web.archive.org/web/20160422020841/http://blog.sfgate.com/reyeschow/) and as I skimmed, I thought, what the heck, let’s run it back!

Ihave been driving a great deal this summer, so we will start with three things in my ears as of late. First, I have been bingeing the Podcast [***Sherlock and Co \[1\]***](https://open.spotify.com/show/5yfvdowY1nFCyXRTD5ITqb?si=e341face93ab4744&ref=reyes-chow.com). I have not been able to get into these storytelling podcasts, but this modernized telling is really fun. When I am not listening to Sherlock, I am blasing the cast recording from the Alicia Keys Broadway musical [***Hell’s Kitchen \[2\]***](https://open.spotify.com/album/6FTH1fFDCpE90YlenHw3We?si=3tex8LoxREiZUIRp7PTZPA&ref=reyes-chow.com). We saw it this summer, and it was amazing. The last thing for your ears this great (but very long) audiobook, [***The Poppy Wars Trilogy \[3\]***](https://libro.fm/audiobooks/9780063347762-the-complete-poppy-war-trilogy?ref=reyes-chow.com)by R. F. Kuang, who also brought you [*Babel*](https://bookshop.org/a/82176/9780063021433?ref=reyes-chow.com) and [*Yellowface*](https://bookshop.org/a/82176/9780063250833?ref=reyes-chow.com). If you are looking for something to read, head on over to, ***\[4\]*** as my friend shared about their leaving the priesthood: beautiful and vulnerable writing.
