About this episode...

CeCe Armstrong is one of the pastors at St. James Presbyterian Church in Charleston, South Carolina and one of the Current Co-Moderators of the Presbyterian Church USA. Cece has served in a number of church leadership positions, including serving as co-moderator of the National Association of Presbyterian Clergywomen and writing for Presbyterians Today magazine and the Presbyterian Outlook.

Tony Larson is the Pastor at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Surfside, South Carolina, and makes up the other half of the Presbyterian  Church (USA) Co-Moderator team with Cece. Tony has served in a number of capacities in the church, including Co-leading the Synod Youth Council for the Synod of the Mid-Atlantic and being a member of the Planning Team for Montreat Youth Conference.

And finally, Rev. Jihyun Oh. Since summer 2024, she has been the Stated Clerk of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), and because she does not have enough to do, she also serves as Executive Director of the Interim Unified Agency (Newly titled denominational office = Life & Witness). She is the first Korean American to serve in the denomination’s highest office, only the second woman, and the first woman of color elected to lead the PC(USA) in its more than 300-year history in the U.S.

Take my word for it, in the Presbyterian world, these three are a big deal, and I am so grateful that they took time to share their experiences in Palestine with me.

And a note for the non-Presbyterians in the house. While all four of us are ordained ministers in the Presbyterian Church USA, and we do let our PresbyNerd flag fly a couple of times, you don’t need to be a Presbyterian to get something from our conversation.

Thanks for spending time with The Amalgamation, and I hope you enjoy part 1 of my conversation with Cece Armstrong, Tony Larson, and Jihyun Oh.
